A Study on a relationship between care burden and health service utilization of Middle-aged Women
Lee Gun-Jeong

Abstract
This study was conducted to analyze the relationship between care role and proper Health care services utilization in middle-aged women. Data of 3,918 middle-aged women from 40 to 59 was drawn from the 4th round Korean Women Family Panel Data, collected in 2012. Analysis includes proportion of the care role, identifying the relationship between each care role and health care services, and hierarchical multiple logistic regression analysis to identify the independent effects of care role on unmet need health care utilization. The results indicated that about 75% of middle-aged women has been performing two or more care roles, 23% two or more of care role and unmet need health care utilization was largest among the group of multi care role. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis results show that middle aged women¡¯s care roles have independent effects on unmet need health care utilization in model 2, which added the care role factors to the model 1 that includes socio-economic factors and health related factors. This study shows that care roles of middle-aged women and multi care roles cause the difficulty in health care service use. Therefore, reducing the burden of middle-aged women is needed to promote health, in addition to providing information and education about proper health care, health promotion and policy support.
